- Record key parameters such as pressures, temperatures, fuel/lube oil levels, and generator loads.
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs
- Assist in executing the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and report completed maintenance tasks to the Chief Engineer.
- Perform lubrication, filter changes, pump servicing, and replacement of worn-out components.
- Troubleshoot minor machinery breakdowns and assist with emergency mechanical repairs at sea.
Safety, Compliance & Environmental Practices
- Follow environmental protection procedures in compliance with MARPOL regulations (bilge discharge, OWS, incinerator use).
- Participate in emergency drills and maintain readiness for fire, flooding, and system failure incidents.
- Assist in ensuring all engine room operations are conducted with strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE usage.
Technical Support & Documentation
- Maintain accurate engine room logs and assist in preparing technical reports.
- Support the Chief Engineer in spare parts inventory control and ordering.
- Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and hazard-free condition of the engine room.
Team Collaboration

- Provide training and hands-on instruction where necessary.
- Report promptly to the Chief Engineer on any irregularities or potential issues.
